hipstertracks: Coldplay – Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall

So I hate Coldplay. Except from The Scientist and Yellow and Green Eyes, which I like because they came out when I was about thirteen and didn’t know any better, and which are therefore part of those hazy teenage days that really do make you believe that your schooldays are the best time of your life.

Anyway. Point is, I hate Coldplay and all that they stand for. To be fair, they probably don’t really stand for anything. Well, except Chris (accidentally typed Christ, was tempted to leave it, probably quite apt) Martin, who stands for fair trade and all that sort of thing and which I can’t really criticise). It’s more what the people who like Coldplay stand for. Beards. Ginger beer. Witty slogans on t-shirts. Festivals. Glasses, probably. Hemp. Birkenstocks. You get the idea.

Except - I think I like this. Maybe it’s just because I’m of a generation that will enjoy any song about turning the music up and having a good time. It’s such an awkward attempt at reinvention and relevance, and yet…
